The story of East Coast Salon Services begins in 1957 when two Philadelphians, Stan Klet, a musician, and Joe Marcelli, a draftsman, met during basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. This meeting began a 47-year friendship and a business relationship that has spanned 45 years.

In 1959, Stan took over his family’s small beauty supply business after his father’s untimely death and invited Joe to join him as a partner. From these humble beginnings, Stan and Joe have built a 3-man operation into a leading distributor in the beauty industry, covering 6 states with 9 stores and over 175 employees.

Even with this growth, the company has essentially remained a family business. Stan Klet, Jr. joined East Coast in 1987 and now serves as Executive Vice President. In addition, Stan’s daughter Kim is Director of the Education Department, while his daughters Kris and Kara are Sales Consultants for the company. Joe Marcelli’s son, Joseph, is East Coast’s Receiving Manager.

The family does not stop there, however. Every employee at East Coast is considered a part of the family, and this, in turn, spills over in how we view our customers.
